Markid et Hamangi

Markid et Hamangi, the hebrew term for “making the melody dance” (Halper et al., 1989), refers to the process where a musician intentionally makes their music more upbeat so their consumers can dance to their songs. Such a process is used in Mizrahi music as dancing and performance are important aspects of its musical culture.
