In Israel, “haflot” is a common slang term for parties or gatherings, derived from the Arabic word haflah meaning “party”. Historically, haflot have offered social settings where “Mizrahi music was composed, performed, and heard” (Dorchin & Crowdus, 2024, p. 101-102). Furthermore, such social and artistic exchange heavily influences the landscape of Mizrahi music.
