To expand outreach and awareness, in 1972, the Sephardic community in Quebec created the Festival Sefarade du Québec (Communauté Sépharade Unifiée du Québec, 2025). Originally intendedto display tangible items produced by Jewish Moroccan individuals, the festival soon evolved to showcase Sephardic cultures through different mediums such as debates, concerts, comedians, artists, lectures, films, cuisine (Communauté Sépharade Unifiée du Québec, 2025: Roda, 2015). Furthermore, the events are opportunities to build relationships both internally and externally amongst Jewish and non-Jewish Montrealers (Roda, 2015). The year 1981 marked a significant change for the festival, as organizers sought to promote how Sephardis now live around the world, inviting artists from different countries like France, Israel, and Spain. The not only a good opportunity to showcase Sephardic culture, but also to showcase its interaction with other cultures and community, which further integrates the festival into Montreal culture.
